The visitors, who were facing the Broch for the first time on Highland League duty, twice went in front in the first half, but Fraserburgh turned it around in the second period, although United took the plaudits for a spirited performance.

This was Formartine's first league match for quite some time, but they showed no lack of sharpness in the opening periods. And after just seven minutes they were in front.

Patrick Vigurs knocked a decent ball to Stuart McKay who shrugged off the challenges of nearby defenders to put a ball into the six-yard zone where Andrew Bagshaw managed to scramble home.

It was a very sharp start from Formartine, and Fraserburgh were lucky to get off the hook just minutes after Bagshaw's strike.

Kenny Coull beat the offside trap and found himself straight in on goal, but he stalled on his shot and Leask managed to palm the ball away.

Fraserburgh eventually gained momentum and drew level after 20 minutes.
Allan Hale put a good ball into the path of Jonathan Garden, and he finished impressively, sidefooting into the top slot of the goal from 18 yards out.

Based on that first quarter of the game, it was maybe an undeserved goal considering Formartine's start.

Garden looked to have a shot cleared off the line from Steven Main's free-kick, and it really was an end-to-end game as Formartine regained the lead.

Fraserburgh were caught out at a corner, which was played to Mark Simpson, who was lurking unnoticed at the edge of the penalty area, his thunderous drive was blocked on the line by Bryan Hay, but Stuart McKay was in the right place at the right time to finish up the scraps.

However, this lead only lasted a short period of time, the away side didn't properly clear their lines from Beagrie's ball in, Steven Main fired in a shot from the tightest of angles, and it somehow flashes through a sea of players and into the net.

The Broch could even have gone in front just before the interval, Hale dribbled by two defenders and cut it back to Garden, but his feeble effort was side-footed wide.

Shortly after the break, Fraserburgh went in front for the first time in the game, a corner came in from the right and following a frantic goalmouth scramble, Hay managed to clamber the ball to Jonathan Garden, who smashed the ball in from five yards out.

Steven Main could have extended this advantage a few minutes later, Hale went on a jinking run and put an inviting low ball into the back post, Main shaped up for the shot but implausibly blazed over from 12 yards to the disappointment of the home fans.

However, it mattered not for the hosts as Allan Hale scored a fourth. Simpson managed to clear, but only as far as Hale who unleashed a bullet of a volley into the net, maybe it took a slight deflection on its way in, but nevertheless it was a sweet strike.

Michael Fyfe's first touch of the ball nearly resulted in a goal after coming on as a sub, McKay passed the ball along the 18-yard line and Fyfe was unlucky not to see his curling shot go in when it struck the foot of the post.

Even after Hale's goal, Formartine kept fighting to give themselves a chance to take the share of the spoils, but even though they lost out, it was still an encouraging performance, while Fraserburgh keep up this superb winning run ahead of the hectic course of fixtures coming up for them in the proceeding weeks.
