Charles Buchan - Mr Buchan to many of Fraserburgh who better know him as the Academy’s physics teacher - has told the Fraserburgh Herald of his delight to be representing the SNP in the upcoming May elections.

Mr Buchan, who will run with fellow SNP candidates Ricky Sheaffe-Green and Councillor Brian Topping, has said that running for election in Fraserburgh district and ward will allow him to give back to the community that has given him so much.

The retired physics teacher, who won the 2009 UK Physics Teacher award spent some time discussing why he had chosen to make the move to politics.

“I’ve been a long time member of the SNP, and, as a public servant, one is slightly constrained in how active they can be.

“The town has been very good to me, and it’s time to give back.

“I just feel as if everything is coming together now,” he said.

Mr Buchan, who has always been associated with Fraserbrugh may even have an advantage over his colleagues in May, but he adamant that they can achieve more as a team than as individuals.

“My family has always been associated from around here.

“However, the three SNP candidates see ourselves as a team, we feel that we can accomplish much more as one voice in Fraserburgh,” he added.

Convinced by Councillor Topping that he would be the ideal man to enter politics in Fraserburgh, Mr Buchan said that he hopes to be able to knock on everyone’s door in the run up to the elections in May.
