31 up for food awards

The Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards have announced that 31 local companies from across Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City and Moray will contest the final awards.

Entries from food and drink producers and retailers from across the North-east will participate in the judging process taking place on Thursday, March 21.

The judging will be done by dignitaries including managing director Peter Bruce of Entier Limited, Lorna Murray of Asda and Simon Cousins, series producer of Landward for BBC Scotland.

Elizabeth Mathie, Grampian Food Forum coordinator, said: “I’m pleased to see so many different companies participating this year. The 23rd annual Innovation Awards promise to be the best yet, with a range of honours on offer for businesses across Grampian.

“In particular, it is good to see five companies entering
the category for Investing in Skills Development, which has been introduced by Skills Development Scotland, and shows a good response in its inaugural year.

This award will be presented to the business that has shown the greatest
achievement in raising the skills of their workforce and achieving business benefits.”

Tickets for the presentation dinner are priced at £55 per person and are available on line at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/foodawards. More information on the awards is also available via the website.
