A97 collision witnesses sought
Grampian Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision which occurred around 4:35pm on Wednesday February 13 on the A97 Huntly to Banff road, approximately half a mile north of its junction with the A96.
It involved a white DAF rigid goods vehicle and a silver Peugeot 206 car.
As a result of the collision the driver of the Peugeot, a 19 year old female, was taken to Dr Grays hospital Elgin with a serious head injury. She was later transported to ARI by air, where her condition is described as serious but stable.
The driver of the lorry, a 38 year old male, was uninjured.
At the time of the collision weather conditions were very poor with heavy and drifting snow affecting the road. The road was closed for approximately eight hours while collision investigators carried out an examination.
Appealing for witnesses, Inspector Ewan Innes said that enquiries were progressing but it was too early to speculate as to the exact cause, but the weather and road conditions at the time of the collision are a factor which will feature within investigations.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
