Fraserburgh to host mobile breast screening

A mobile breast screening unit will be at Fraserburgh Hospital over the coming months to detect any breast changes at an early stage.
The North-east of Scotland mobile breast screening service will be in Fraserburgh from Wednesday, August 8, for several months.
The unit will be based at Fraserburgh Hospital, Lochpots Road.
Women between the ages of 50 and 70 registered with the Finlayson Street Practice, Saltoun Surgery, Crimond Medical Centre and Central Buchan Medical Practice will be invited to attend.
Older women are not sent an invitation, but they are encouraged to make their own appointment by contacting the screening centre on telephone number 01224 550570.
The aim of the programme is to detect breast changes at an early stage when treatment has the best chance of success.
Women invited for the first time are strongly encouraged to attend but it is also important for anyone screened before or who missed an appointment in the last three years to take up the offer.
The risk of developing breast cancer increases with age so screening is an important check in ensuring there have been no changes since the last mammogram.
