Local man and runner Andy Higgins has raised over £700 for local group Kinship 4 Kids, completing the London Marathon in the process.

Mr Higgins had previously told the Fraserburgh Herald that this would be his 14th London Marathon, usually running each year to raise money for a charity.

With donations from the local public, Mr Higgins completed the London Marathon and was able to present a total of £702.50 to the group.

Mr Higgins and Kinship 4 Kids would like to thank everyone who sponsored him in his latest marathon. They added that the money raised would be going towards the children who looked after by the grandparents and other family members.

Mr Higgins, himself, is a grandparent, looking after two grandchildren.

As Kinship 4 Kids is not a registered charity, it receives no funding to help in looking after the children involved with the group.

Earlier this year, the group, with Children 1st, had launched their manifesto detailing local issues that needed to be addressed by local government.

In statement, the group said: “This manifesto is a snapshot of some of the areas we feel need to be developed to ensure all children and young people are treated equally across Scotland.”
