Stewart Stevenson MSP last week presented four local schools with sports equipment as part of Tesco’s equipment for schools programme.
Presenting local school children from Westfield, North, Lochpots and St Andrews with additional equipment last week, Store manager Neil Connell said of the programme: “A lot of the stuff is sports equipment which is really good and healthy for the kids to get involved in.
“The scheme now is schools and clubs, not just schools, so it’s been expanded and we’ve given away millions of pounds worth of equipment over the last ten or twelve years.”
Stewart Stevenson MSP commented that he was happy to support the programme, commenting: “We’ve seen the benefits in other schools over the previous 20 years, this being the 21st year, and local schools getting the equipment from Tesco is a great uplift.
“It’s an excellent scheme that I’ve always been very happy to support.”
Mr Stevenson MSP added: “This year we’re seeing the sports equipment being given in parallel with the computers and, of course, we’re looking forward to 2014 after a terrific year for sport in the London Olympics - Glasgow, come on!”
