Sporting and television memorabilia stolen from house

Grampian Police are appealing for witnesses following a theft from a house in Peterhead during which a number of unique pieces of sporting and television memorabilia were stolen.

The theft took place between June 13 and July 4 at a house on Rattery Road.

The items stolen were being stored before being auctioned on behalf of a variety of charity groups.

They include signed items by the Ryder Cup team, Arsenal Football Club and golfer Peter Alliss. It also includes a top worn by Coronation Star Jenny McAlpine on an episode of the show.

Detective Constable Kevin MacDonald, who is investigating the incident, said: “This is a shameful theft of items which were aimed at raising money for charity.

“These are clearly very distinctive items so it’s possible someone may have seen them either in someone’s home or for sale somewhere.

“We are appealing for the communities assistance in identifying those responsibility and I would urge anyone who may have any information at all about this incident to contact us as soon as possible. If you wish to do that anonymously that can be done through the independent charity Crimestoppers.”

The full list of items are as follows:

An Arsenal 1996-97 football strip signed by the team at the time;

A top worn by actress Jenny McAlpine worn during an episode of Coronation Street;

A Valhalla Golf flag signed by the Ryder Cup team;

A book signed by professional golfer Peter Alliss;

A limited edition water colour painting of Cruden Bay.

Grampian Police can be contacted on 0845 600 5 700 or alternatively via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you prefer to remain anonymous.
