Plans for a new coffee shop in Fraserburgh’s town centre suffered a blow this week when applicant Michael Morris withdrew his planning application before it could go before councillors.

Michael Morrice, who already runs a store in Fraserburgh, had hoped to breathe new life into the vacant premises at 13 Saltoun Square, formerly home to picture framers ‘The Big Picture’.

Mr Morrice cited difficulties in following through with his proposal which ultimately led to him abandoning the new venture

Mr Morris told the Fraserburgh Herald that there was too much bureaucracy involved with the process:

“There is too much red tape,” he told us.

“I am obviously disappointed that I have not been able to progress with these plans,” he added.

The application was due to go before the Banff and Buchan Area Committee on Tuesday this week but councillors were informed at the meeting that the applicant had decided not to pursue the matter.
