SONGS: The Songs of Praise event raised over 300 for Tearfund.

Over 200 people attended a Songs of Praise event at the Kirkie, St Combs, on Saturday, September 22.

The evening was led by the Peterhead Kedron Gospel Male Voice Choir, the Strichen Praise Band and a group from Deveron River Brass Band.

In addition, contributions were made by Kirsten and Mark on song and guitar.

The interim moderator, Rev. Abi Ngunga, gave an inspirational and challenging ‘thought for the evening’ based on the theme ‘Now I will praise the Lord’.

The evening included traditional and more modern hymns and songs which were thoroughly appreciated by the large audience.

The male voice choir shared some great songs of encouragement and inspiration, too, whilst the Strichen Praise Band, which included a number of young people, led the singing of newer songs with conviction and enthusiasm.

The retiring collection was made on behalf of Tearfund, a Christian organisation passionate about the local church bringing justice and transforming lives.

In total, £323.23 was collected.

TIm Barker, the local locum, was delighted with the response of the event, with everyone looking forward to a repeat in the future.
