ORGANISERS have hailed the ninth Fraserburgh Wedding Exhibition at the Leisure Centre as a great success.

Lynda Skinner said when the doors opened at 6.30pm there was a queue waiting to get in and the evening remained busy throughout with around 300 people attending.

On entering the hall they were greeted by a host of wedding services available to them providing a huge choice for any bride-to-be whether they wanted to look at bridal wear, hotels, flowers, cakes, stationery, photographers, videographers, cars, wedding lists, thank-you gifts, exercise.

The bridal fashion show took place at 8pm where there was seating for more than 200, and people were also standing to watch a range of wedding dresses from five north-east shops, Moments Bridal of Fraserburgh, Laorr Bridal from Maud, Elmar Bridal of Peterhead, Dzynz from Olmeldrum, Avorio from Fochabers and Orlaya of Aberdeen.

Brides-to-be were given a taste of some beautiful bridal wear in the form of 36 bridal dresses and eight gowns for flowergirls.

Lynda told the Herald: “The models love doing the show which is evident when you are watching and are very professional at what they do. Our young flowergirl models have been modelling for us since they could walk and are now eight this year.”

One lady visiting the exhibition with her daughter who is getting married in 2014 said: “Exhibitions are not necessarily enjoyable, but this one certainly was, everyone was so relaxed and helpful really very worthwhile attending.”

Exhibitors were very complimentary again this year with a member of Debenhams staff who had attended one of the very first exhibitions and then attending this year stating: “how things have changed!

“I remember the first one I attended and if I am honest it was like an event in a church hall but now it is a very professional event.”

Laura Balloch another exhibitor also complimented the organisers, saying: “For me this is a very worthwhile exhibition, I feel you have got it just right. It’s a burst of interest from 6.30pm to 9.30pm with the bridal fashion show timed just right for all.”

Lynda has expressed thanks to all the exhibitors for their generosity in providing such wonderful raffles on the night which made many people very happy with some great prizes up for grabs.

Lynda added: “Feedback this year has been excellent from both the public and exhibitors alike, which is very satisfying and the total raised was a fantastic £4,619.67.

!This evening, allows us to raise awareness of The Neuk a specialised dementia day centre in Fraserburgh and also raise money that allows us to do so many things to improve the well-being of clients and their families.

“We are very lucky to have so many wonderful people who support us. David Wilmot and his team at the leisure centre, our main sponsors, are just a pleasure to work with and the exhibitors, many of them are now like friends that I look forward to meeting up with each year.

“There are far too many people to name individually for making the evening so successful, so I say thank you to them all - they will know who they are, I very much appreciate their support. The evening went exactly to plan with the expertise of a good team of people built over the years, showing respect for each others qualities.”
