SMITH, the short film by Fraserburgh filmmakers Carly Bowie and Mark Jackson, is to be screened as part of the Inverness Film Festival, later this month.
The film, in which Henry Duthie MBE took the title role, will be screened as the preview short alongside the new Ray Winstone movie '44 Inch Chest.
It will also be screened as part of a selection of short films from throughout Scotland.
Car
ly Bowie told the Herald:
"We are very pleased that Smith has been selected to play at another festival, especially one as well-regarded as Inverness. It is great to think it will be shown just before such a leading UK film as '44 Inch Chest'," she said.
Carly added that she was looking forward to seeing 'Smith' on the big screen:
"It's an exciting, but nerve-wracking prospect," she added.
Smith, which was shot entirely on location in Fraserburgh and New Pitsligo, was premiered earlier this year at the Aberdeen City and Shire Film Festival.
The duo are hoping that the no-budget film might yet be screened at other festivals:
"It is a real boost for everyone involved in the making of the film. We are still waiting to hear from a few more festivals regarding submissions and intend to keep applying to more.
"It is a case of trying to cast the net wide, with festivals in Europe and the US as well," said Mark Jackson.
The pair recently started work on their second production 'Stoked', which is also being shot in Fraserburgh.
This will be the 7th Inverness Film Festival.
Festival Director Paul Taylor said:
"This year has seen the welcome return of the auteur filmmaker, and I hope you will join in our celebration of the work of both established and upcoming auteur in this year's festival.
"As well as screening 12 Scottish premieres, showcasing the best new British and international films and documentaries, the Inverness Film Festival continues to celebrate both Scottish and Highland filmmaking.
"We will screen two new Scottish features by up and coming young Scottish directors; One Day Removals by Mark Stirton and Dark Nature by Marc de Launay.
"There's something new and different on every day of the festival – I'm sure there'll be something for everyone."
There will be Scottish premieres of films by the Coen Brothers (A Serious Man), Steven Soderbergh (The Informant, The Girlfriend Experience), Steven Poliakoff (Glorious 39), Nicolas Winding Refn (Valhalla Rising) and Warwick Thornton (Samson and Delilah). We'll have a retrospective look at the work of, arguably Scotland's greatest director, a true auteur and a visionary, Bill Douglas. The theme of authorship runs through the festival in other ways too, as several of our films are based on books; The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo from the novel by Stieg Larsson, The Boys Are Back from the memoir by Simon Carr and The Informant! from the novel by Kurt Eichenwald.
The Inverness Film Festival runs from November 11-15 at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness.
