A fisherman is missing after he fell off the trawler New Dawn in the North Sea east of Wick.

According to the coast Guard, the incident was reported at 11pm on Wednesday by the crew.

Two helicopters and a number of fishing boats are involved in the search. The skipper apparently dived into the sea in a bid to rescue the man, but instead was brought back onto the New Dawn and airlifetd to Aberdeen suffering hypothermia, Coast guard officials say.

The trawler New Dawn is the focus of a continuing BBC documentary called "Trawlermen" that is set to be aired soon.
