The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses is among nine venues in Fraserburgh and Buchan area taking part in North East Open Studios from 13th to 22nd September.

203 artists, galleries and studios are open across the North East of Scotland for the fifth North East Open Studios. NEOS is an award winning collective of artists, makers and galleries based in northeast Scotland, who open their doors to the public yearly.

Formed in 2003, it provides an informal contact network, and helps the public access the wealth of creative talent throughout northeast Scotland. In 2007 NEOS won the Northern Lights Tourism Award for best Aberdeenshire Tourism Initiative.

Taking part for the first year, the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses's exhibition 'Art of the Lighthouse' includes work by local artists, poets and musicians as well as copies of some of the most famous lighthouse paintings in the world.

"This will be a great show", said Director Virginia Mayes-Wright. "It is a unique opportunity to see a huge range of art works inspired by the romance, skill and dedication of lighthouses and their keepers".
