RESIDENTS in St Combs will soon have to travel further afield than the village in order to visit a Post Office.
The Post Office, situated on High Street, is set to close in April following the retiral of Subpostmaster Ann Pirie.
Post Office Ltd have confirmed that the premises will no longer be available for Post Office use which means that Post Office Ltd
will have to temporarily close St Combs post office branch, Fraserburgh on April 8.
Kenny Lamont of Post Office Ltd said: "Regrettably, following the resignation of the Subpostmaster and the premises no longer being available for Post Office use, and despite our best efforts to maintain a Post Office counter service at this location, we have no other option but to temporarily close this branch on April 8.
"The provision of a Post Office service to our customers in the local community is of paramount importance and we continue to work hard to restore a Post Office service in the area as soon as possible.
"Post Office Ltd would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience the closure will cause and wish to assure them that every effort is being made resume a Post Office service in the community of St Combs," he added.
Villagers from St Combs will have to travel to use branches at Fraserburgh, Inverallochy or Crimond.
Three alternative Post Office branches in the area are: Inverallochy branch, 1 School Street, Inverallochy, Fraserburgh, AB43 8XZ;
Crimond partner service, Scotts Convenience Store, Crimond, Fraserburgh, AB43 8QJ; Fraserburgh branch, 6-12 Mid Street, Fraserburgh, AB43 9AJ.
