WORK to repair or replace the windows in Fraserburgh's Dalrymple Hall and Arts Centre is ahead of schedule.
Councillor Ian Tait told the Herald this week that he had been advised that from Dalrymple Street the windows to the ground floor were now complete.
Impressed by the progress made to-date, Cllr Tait said: "The windows to the first floor, which for
m the majority of the window installation works, are approximately 75% complete.
"The works are ahead of the programme to complete by the end of March 2010," he said.
The overall cost of the programme is £138,416.95, with Cllr Tait explaining that the building is listed and Historic Scotland has to give approval for any works.
"They have made it a condition that any windows in a condition which can be economically refurbished must not be replaced, but re-furbished," he said.
"As a result of this, approximately 40% of the windows are being refurbished, the remaining 60% will be replaced as new. When the sea-facing ones have been done, the scaffolding will then move to do the windows at the front of the building," he added.
