AN INVERNESS Clachnacuddin side torn apart by injuries and suspensions held Fraserburgh to a one all draw, on the opening day of the season at Bellslea Park. David Watson had given Clach the lead early on, but Substitute Robert Morrice equalised for the home side, deep into the second half.

The Lilywhites season got off to a flier, as John McLeod broke down the left-hand side leaving Dickson in his wake, before putting in a low cross, which left the unmarked David Watson with an easy finish form six yards.

This seemed to be a wake-up call for Fraserburgh, as they started piling the pressure on the Clach back four, with Derek Milne heading inches wide from Michael Stephens cross, a sight which would become all too familiar as the game wore on.

And as Fraserburgh continued to surge forward in search of an equaliser, they were caught on the break again by Clach, this time almost proving them costly as McLeod hammered the ball off Billy Gordon's post after breaking free past Dickson and Ralph.

The Broch's best chance of the half came five minutes before the interval, after a goalmouth scramble following a high ball in from Graham Johnston's corner, led to Milne having another header that came close, this time being cleared off the line, and this did not look like it was going to be his day for the Fraserburgh captain.
Chance after chance came and went for the Broch without a goal, as Milne put another header wide and Matt Northcroft waving play on as it looked to be that Stephen had been tripped inside the penalty area.

But finally, that sought-after goal came for the home side 20 minutes from time. A poorly-hit clearance fell to debutant Robert Morrice 25 yards out, unleashing an emphatic volley that gave Neil Hastie no chance of saving into the top corner, and now the question was, Could Clach see out the game with the score at 1-1?

Milne had another chance to win the game late on, this time sending a half-volley crashing off the crossbar with the visitors making a triple substitution, just happy to see the game out with a point.

Morrice also had a chance two minutes from time but his effort from a tight angle was stopped by the well-positioned Hastie, as the Broch fans left Bellslea Park disappointed not to have all three points wrapped up.
