A LARGE and fervent crowd saw Fraserburgh United made it six league wins on the spin on Saturday as they easily swept aside a struggling Dufftown side.
United strikers were on form again as Roy Noble grabbed another two goals while Iain Bisset scored for the 4th game in a row to ensure United took the points.

All eyes will now be focussed on the tantalising top of the table clash against Invernes
s City at College Park on Saturday.

United started the match in a positive manner and were troubling the Dufftown defence after only 30 seconds. Buchan did well down the Fraserburgh left before swinging over a cross to the back post that Dufftown 'keeper Taylor did well to palm away from the danger area.
Just two minutes were gone and Broch almost opened the scoring.

A free kick was played into the Dufftown penalty area by McLeman to the head of Davie Ross, but Ross's looping header was comfortably touched over his own crossbar for a corner by Dufftown 'keeper Taylor.

Fraserburgh took the lead after 13 minutes and it was to be the first of a series of mistakes by Dufftown players that led to the goal.  Hay wriggled free on the United left and his cross towards the Dufftown back post saw defender S. Lamberton inexplicably head the ball back across his own goal and into the path of United's in form striker Noble who couldn't believe his luck and gleefully nodded the ball beyond Martin Taylor and into the net from close range.

Fraserburgh doubled their advantage after 22 minutes and again the Dufftown defence was caught short. Great work from Forbes and McLeman saw them work space for Bisset on the edge of the Dufftown area, he then delivered an inch perfect cross onto the chest of Noble who turned and cutely slipped the ball beyond Taylor to double his and United's tally.

United were now in complete control of the match and they almost grabbed their third goal of the afternoon after 31 minutes.  A short corner kick found its way to Bisset in space at the edge of the Dufftown penalty area, his driven shot being expertly tipped over the crossbar by visiting 'keeper Taylor.

Fraserburgh should have made it 3-0 after 38 minutes.  A great crossfield ball by Buchan found Bisset in space inside the Dufftown penalty area but the frontman dragged his effort wide with the goal gaping.

Fraserburgh scored their third goal of the afternoon in first half stoppage time.  This time Bisset was the architect, after receiving McLeman's pinpoint 40 yard pass he then turned Dufftown captain S. Lamberton inside out before crossing to Whyte in total isolation at the back post, where he lashed the ball beyond the exposed Taylor.
Into the second half and Dufftown pulled a goal back within a minute of the restart.

But Dufftown's frailties were to be exposed again as the Broch made it 4-1 after 50 minutes.  Substitute McManus was easily dispossessed on the Fraserburgh right by Whyte, the winger then drove towards the Dufftown box before whipping in a cross where it was headed by the unfortunate P. Lamberton beyond Martin Taylor for a cruel own goal.

Fraserburgh finished the scoring for the afternoon with 20 minutes remaining.  A long ball forward by Hay towards the Dufftown penalty area caused confusion between Gary Lamberton and Paul Lamberton and in nipped Bisset who lashed a beauty of a 20 yard shot beyond the reach of Dufftown 'keeper Taylor and into the corner of the net.

United comfortably saw out the remainder of the game and now look forward to the visit of league leaders Inverness on Saturday in what promises to be a cracking game.

Assistant manager Don Allan told the Herald: "A great score, maybe not performance. Credit to Dufftown, they are a better side than their league position, they put us under pressure and maybe the score was a bit flattering to us.
"We looked a wee bit off the pace in the second half and we need to be better than that on Saturday."
