Family Bike Ride

Aden Country Park will host Buchan’s first family bike ride this spring.

Families and individuals are encouraged to get on their bikes to take part in the ride, which will be held on Sunday, March 18.

The ‘Aden Bike Challenge’ will take place between Peterhead and Aden Country Park, promising to be a fun packed day.

It will take in the sights along the Formartine and Buchan Way, along a scenic eight mile trail.

Chairman of Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Services Committee (ISC) Councillor Peter Argyle, said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for families to challenge themselves and share in the fun at Aden Park.

“We are lucky to have such fantastic facilities within easy striking distance from Peterhead and are blessed with a great off-road route linking the two. I would encourage anyone looking for a fun day out to come along and join in.’

Vice chair Jill Webster said: “This is a great idea to help boost the profile of cycling as a mode of transport in the area and I hope lots of people take part to help make this a popular event which could be repeated in future.

“Other events like this in our area have proved so popular they have really helped bring more visitors into the area and boost the local economy, and hopefully this could happen here.”

The bike ride is being held as part of a wider Heath and Wellbeing Fair being hosted at Aden County Park.

This will include the ‘Bike Road Show’, a number of exhibition stalls and stands with plans to hold a Farmer’s Market.

The event is being developed by Aberdeenshire Council along with local community partners and the charity Chest Heart Stroke Scotland.
