STREET FIT: Karen Gibson has become the first person locally to receive the qualification.

STREET FIT: Karen Gibson has become the first person locally to receive the qualification.

Karen Gibson has become the first Street Fit instructor in Aberdeenshire, having successfully completed the course in Glasgow last weekend.

The qualification adds to one of the many the fitness instructor already has, having first completed an exercise to music course around eight years ago, becoming fully qualified.

Since then, she has completed a level three diploma in pilates and body sculpting pilates.

“I also teach Zumba and I have around 100 pupils joining in my childrens dance classes from the age of 4 to 13,” Karen said.

Street Fit, based on street dancing, combines ‘edgy’ dance moves with intense exercise.

On the Street Fit pass, she added: “As other dance and fitness classes such as Zumba are everywhere, I like to try new, up and coming fitness ideas for my classes. As I love both dance and fitness, this was a refreshing, new, funky course which I really enjoyed.

To book a space on one of Karen’s Peterhead classes, starting Thursday, August 2, at the Rescue Hall, contact her via mobile telephone on 07948412499, via email at k.gibsonfitnessdance@hotmail.co.uk, or on Facebook.

Karen is also fundraising for the Fraserburgh Gala, holding a Zumba-thon on Saturday, August 18 from 12pm ‘til 2pm. For more information, contact Karen or visit Karen’s Dance Studio, 71 High Street.
