A St Combs couple who put on a Christmas display each year have had their lights switched on by a group of Brownies.
William and Margaret McRobbie, who live on East Street, St Combs, held the switching-on ceremony at their home last week.
The 1st St Combs Brownies were on hand to turn on the lights, the fourth year in a row they have been asked to take part.
William and Margaret first started their festive display 20 years ago. This year, for the first time, East Street had to be closed to motorists to make way for the large crowd who turned out to see the decorations. All donations raised through the lights will go to St Combs School. The school has benefited from the generosity of local people, thanks to the display, for the past 16 years.
William and Margaret have three daughters and six grandchildren. The couple’s sons-in-law helped to put up the lights and decorations.
After the the lights were switched on, those attending the event were treated to refreshments organised by William, Margaret and their family.
Commenting, William said: “This is the first year that we’ve invited a heap of people.
“This is the 20th year it’s been going and each year we’ve added to it.
“A lot of people come past at nights, people come all the time to see the lights.”
