Lighthouse to have stall at gala

LIGHTHOUSE: Gary Campbell is the new business manager at the Lighthouse Museum.

As part of the Lighthouse Museum’s support of the returning Fraserburgh Gala, it was hoped that Kinnaird Head would shine at some point over the gala weekend.

An employee of the Lighthouse Museum had said at the last meeting of the Fraserburgh Gala Committee that the museum’s business manager, Gary Campbell, would be willing for the lighthouse to play a part in the Broch gala.

Speaking to the Fraserburgh Herald, Mr Campbell said: “We’re really happy to support it, and will have a stall at the gala.”

He added that it was impossible to have the lighthouse beacon switched on, however, during the gala, due to time constraints.

Mr Campbell told the Fraserburgh Herald that legal issues meant that, given the time period left before the beginning of the Fraserburgh Gala, the lighthouse could not be turned on.

He did, however, say that the next time the lighthouse would be switched on would be December 1, 2012, to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the first lighthouse in Scotland, Kinnaird Head.
