Fraserburgh’s Museum of Scottish Lighthouses was again targeted by vandals who smashed windows at the popular tourist attraction.

Earlier this year, vandals had caused thousands of pounds worth of damages to the Stevenson Café at the Lighthouse Museum, the attraction, which has a documented history of financial troubles, forced to pay a sum of around £2,500 to repair the broken windows in the dining area.

Several weeks on, Lighthouse Museum staff awoke on Wednesday (February 19) to discover that vandals had again struck.

Two windows on one of Kinnaird Head Lighthouse’s courtyard buildings, an engineering exhibition, had been smashed through, Museum business manager telling the Fraserburgh Herald that he believed the vandals may have also gained access to the exhibition itself.

He was unaware if anything had been stolen, however, and had not been into the building himself whilst he waited for Grampian Police to arrive at the scene.

He told the Herald: “The board and staff at the museum are really upset at the continued attacks on the Lighthouse.

“The Lighthouse Museum is important not only nationally but internationally, and to have an attack on it beggars belief.”
