Sometimes the WRI has an acitivity that is exciting and unusual, and such was the case at New Aberdour recently.
Belly dancing was the latest activity at the WRI meeting in March. It was fun to swing the hips and tummy, knowing that the bigger they were, the better the dancing looked. Apparantly, belly dancing improves fitness levels at the same time as being real fun.
As usual, on the night there were the competitions, and 1st prize for the curry went to Moira Nelson, while the prize for the cheesecake went to Nan Buchan.
New Aberdour put in entries for the Buchan and Banff SWRI group competitions in Strichen on March 16. Many of the members worked hard preparing for the group show. They produced articles incorporating the skills of sewing, knitting, cooking, flower arranging and many more. The hard work proved worthwhile as awards were won by Margaret Alderson, Joyce Strachan, Moira Nelson, Cathy Gibb, Wilma Coull, Karen Whyte, Nan Buchan and Patricia Sim.
The New Aberdour SWRI meets on the second Wednesday of every month, started at 7.15pm in the old school building in the village. For more information, phone New Aberdour SWRI President Moira Nelson on 01346 561777.
