THE Great Inverurie Bike Ride will now be held on Sunday, September 8, after it was postponed in July due to roadworks.
The re-scheduled Bike Ride will now go-ahead with a shorter route of 13 miles also available aimed at families with younger children.
Aberdeenshire Council say that the race will take place following consultation with local groups.
Sandy Lindsay who organised the ride for its first 23 years said: “I am highly pleased to hear the ride is going ahead and I encourage all previous participants over the last 26 years come out in support. I will be doing my bit to promote it.”
The main route begins at Kellands Park from 12noon then through Chapel of Garioch, Monymusk and back via Burnhervie over a distance of 25 miles.
The event costs £6 per person (£5 for Active Aberdeenshire members) and for families entering the shorter route the cost is £12 per family (£10 for Active Aberdeenshire members) all participants will get an event souvenir and refreshments.
Visit www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/recreation.events/gibr to enter or alternatively entries will also be taken on the day from 11am at Kellands Park.
The Inverurie Round Table is supporting the event and keen to encourage people to raise funds for local charities.
