A North-east association is to hold a special event to recognise the talents and diversity of young people in Fraserburgh and the surrounding area.
The Fraserburgh Rotary Club is planning to host the Celebration of Youth and Diversity, in collaboration with Banff and Buchan College, on March 22 next year.
The extravaganza, which is to be held in the Atrium of the college, will include performances and works by young singers, artists, writers and poets.
The event is just one of many initiatives supported by the Rotary. A number of charities and organisations have received support from the organisation recently, including: Kinship for Kids, Cafe Connect and Global Rock.
Ann Bell, who is president of Fraserburgh Rotary for this year, is spearheading two key themes during her time in the role: youth and community. Commenting on the upcoming event, Ann said: “The Rotary is about community and community involvement.
“The aim of the event which is being planned is to celebrate and highlight the talent and diversity of young people in this area. We are encouraging any young person who thinks they have a talent to come forward and take part. We’re looking for people from all walks of life.
“We’re trying to highlight the positive nature of the vast majority of young people in Fraserburgh and the surrounding area. We’ve seen how much young people can do, for example at the Global Rock and Maelstrom events.
“I’m really proud to be president of the Rotary this year and to be working with so many amazing people.”
As well as the Celebration of Youth and Diversity, the Fraserburgh Rotary is also going to support a number of the club’s national competitions, including Young Musician, Young Chef, Young Writer and Young Photographer. Each of these contests will be open to young people of primary and secondary school age.
On December 8, the Rotary of Central Buchan, along with the Inner Wheel Club and youngsters from Global Rock, are to take part in a bag-packing event at Tesco, in aid of Rotary International charities and local charities.
