Round up of WRI May reports

St Combs WRI

Mrs Stella Buchan welcomed the members to the May meeting.

Mrs Wilma Smith read the minutes which were agreed by the members. The list was circulated for the Birthday Party. Mrs Buchan informed the members that the fees for the following year was to be increased to £16, Edinburgh will receive £14 and Aberdeen will receive £2. Therefore the tea money will have to go up to £1 instead of 50p.

Mrs Buchan has made up a quiz which will be on sale to members and the public to raise money for the Rural.

Aberdeenshire Federation is also having a 500 club raffle which costs £5 per ticket which will be for six draws.

Mrs Buchan then welcomed Mrs Lorna Ross who had come along to do a cookery demonstration. Mrs Ross showed us how to make a three-course meal with a starter of smoked salmon mousse in filo pastry baskets followed by a main course of mango chicken and finished off with a lovely dessert of shortbread layers with berry mascarponi and berry coulis.

Everything was sampled and devoured with great relish and everyone agreed it was delicious. After a lovely tea, the raffles were drawn and the competition winners were as follows:

Fruit crumble: 1. Elsie Stephen; 2. Wilma Smith; 3. Kathleen Buchan.

Supper dish: 1. Wilma Smith; 2. Kathleen Buchan; 3. Elsie Stephen.
