Registration for the 2011 Moonlight Prowl was launched on Saturday, with a fantastic turnout of around 80 women attending the Dalrymple Hall for the registration event under the banner of a ‘Mile and a Muffin’.

The mile and a muffin event was a new format to the launch of the Moonlight Prowl, now in its sixth year.

The Saturday morning event saw dozens of entrants walk a mile circuit before returning to the Dalrymple Hall and was a fantastic way to enable the women to ease into their training regime in preparation for the main event on Saturday June 4,.

Pamela Manett, chairwoman said: “We are hoping to have another very successful event this year, the prowl has become bigger every year due to the continued support from the town and surrounding areas.

“Fraserburgh has really taken the Moonlight Prowl to its heart, people in the town have been so supportive of us and the support from within the business community is fantastic.

“The night itself is great fun, there is a brilliant atmosphere and the sea of pink is an amazing sight.”

For those who have never been involved in the Moonlight Prowl or who are new to the area

Pamela continued: “It is an ideal way to meet people and make good friends at the same time as getting fit and raising funds for breast cancer and research into this disease.

“There are lots of ways people can participate in the event for example we need volunteers for marshalling, making teas and helping with refreshments, get in touch and we will find a job for you.”

Registration for the 2011 prowl is open until April 16, with members of the Moonlight Prowl also available at the Dalrymple Hall on Tuesday evenings between 7 pm and 8 pm until the end of February.

This year’s registration fee is £17.50 and entrants can sign up for either the full prowl of 13.1 miles or a half prowl of 6.2 miles.
