This year’s annual vintage tractor working day at Aden Country Park is being tipped to be one of the best yet.
There will be a rare chance to see a wide variety of vintage tractors ranging from the 1930s to the 1960s.
Other attractions include an opportunity to see the newly-digitised Morrison Collection of local rural photographs, traditional Scottish music by the Buchan Heritage Players, access to the award-winning Aberdeenshire Farming Museum and Hareshowe Farm, and a chance to visit the newly-opened Aden Shop.
The annual vintage tractor day will be held at Hareshowe Working Farm this Sunday (September 30), from 12.15pm to 4.15pm
A wide variety of vintage tractors will demonstrate how ploughing, harrowing, cultivating, ridging, seeding, rolling, scarifying and shimming were carried out.
Weather permitting, organisers hope to demonstrate one of the major tasks of the Buchan farmer’s year, threshing.
Working and static tractors on display include Massey Ferguson, John Deer, International, Ford, David Brown, Fordson, Ferguson, Leyland, Nuffield, McCormack, Gunsmith, Field Marshall, Ursus, Lister, Case, Zetor and many more.
Traditional Scottish song and music will be performed by the Buchan Heritage Players in the courtyard area outside the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum where there will also be an opportunity to either have lunch or fly cup whilst listening to some great Scottish music.
For the shopaholics a warm welcome also awaits in the newly opened Aden Shop where the Friends of Aden are working in partnership with Willowbank Day Services to provide a unique range of locally handmade arts and crafts including cards, bags, scarfs, and jewellery, as well as a range of things to keep the kids amused.
