Banff and Buchan councillors will discuss whether or not to approve funding for a £3 million construction project at Fraserburgh’s Westfield School.

The Westfield Community Hub project was previously discussed by Banff and Buchan’s 10 councillors at an area committee meeting on November 5, 2013.

Phase two of the project, the works, which have been out to tender, will see the demolition of the existing home economics wing of Westfield School, and the relocation of the home economics department and formation of a new sensory rooms within the existing school.

Among the work to be carried out in phase three, the swimming pool and changing facilities will be upgraded and there will be a redecoration.

The lowest bid received while the project was out to tender was from AD Walker Ltd, for the sum of £1,489,755.

It has been estimated that phase two of the project will cost a total of £1,966,625.08. Phase three, meanwhile, is estimated at £1,500,930.

Phase one of the project, meanwhile, which covered enabling works, was priced at £147,000.
