Archives involved in BBC series

The Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives, which has been on display at Fraserburgh Heritage Centre in recent months, have been involved in creating an episode of the BBC television series “Who Do You Think You Are?”

Earlier this year, staff from the service met with Annie Lennox and assisted in her quest to find out about her North-east roots.

Using original items from Aberdeenshire Council’s archive collections, she discovered part of the emerging story of her ancestors in the area.

Phil Astley, city archivist at Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives, said: “This episode of “Who Do You Think You Are?” will be a great advert for the service provided by Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives and the other organisations involved in family history in the area.”

Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives provides a joint archive service for Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils.
