£5million later, Fraserburgh-founded brewery BrewDog, now based in Ellon, have officially announced the opening of DogTap.
Aiming to serve their products straight from the conveyer belt, BrewDog’s DogTap will allow visitors to their Ellon brewery to sample and buy products, and tour the brewery itself, from their on-site tap room.
“Our strategy has always been to try to shorten the distance as much as possible between ourselves and the people who drink our beers; DogTap brings this philosophy full circle,” said BrewDog co-founder James Watt.
Launched on Thursday, July 10, DogTap became the company’s 15th bar in the United Kingdom, their 20th worldwide with the opening of bars in Tokyo, Sheffield, Gothenburg, Dundee, Florence and São Paulo in 2014 alone.
DogTap comes as the result of BrewDog’s £5million expansion of its headquarters in Ellon, resulting in the creation of a visitor centre and a 10HL pilot brewing system for recipe development and interactive brewing.
James continued: “Our brewery is the beating heart of BrewDog, and the launch of DogTap will allow people to visit us and enjoy the freshest BrewDog beers on the planet.
“We always champion beer education in everything we do, from diagrams of the brewing process in our bars to collaborating with thousands on social media to develop concepts for new beers. The visitor centre is a further step in our commitment to education and transparency.”
BrewDog had previously announced the closing of its original Fraserburgh site earlier this year, bringing to a close a seven year association with the North-east town.
