As of Friday last week, August 1, Stagecoach is allowing their passengers on board with beverages as long as they are lidded and non-alcoholic.
Stagecoach previously prohibit passengers from taking hot drinks and beverages on board. However, with the introduction of the new rule, it is hoped travelling passengers will see this as an added benefit to their bus journeys.
Previously, Stagecoach have operated a ‘no food and drink’ policy in their conditions of carriage.
“We think it’s a great idea to allow passengers on board with hot drinks.
“All of our beverages are lidded and we know that travelling customers would see this as a real benefit to their early morning commute to work or evening journey home, especially as Costa is situated only minutes from the station,” said Sharon Hattie, manager of Costa Union Square.
To mark the celebration, Stagecoach North Scotland have teamed up with Coffee Giant, Costa Union Square to promote the use of the bus as a viable and enjoyable transport method and had offered 100 free samples last Friday.
In addition to the Free coffee day, all bus tickets issued on services 10, 35 and 727 from August 1 to August 28 will be printed bearing a unique ten percent discount code. This can be redeemed against any hot drink purchase at Costa Union Square.
At the forefront of the campaign is Stagecoach North Scotland Marketing Manager Claire Burt, who has worked closely with Costa Union Square to implement the new hot drinks policy: “As an enthusiastic coffee drinker, it seemed an excellent opportunity to partner with Costa. Bus travel is relaxing, so why not relax with a favourite hot drink?”
