Fraserburgh residents have signed up in their hundreds to try and pursued Young’s Seafood Limited to stay in the Broch.

Huge numbers have put pen to paper on the Young’s Please Stay letter drafted by Councillors Topping and Buchan last week while over 800 more have signed an online version of the petition.

Councillor Topping said: “The letter is to the directors of Young’s which says here is the community saying we really appreciate you being here.”

The letter was launched last Tuesday before Councillors Topping and Buchan and helpers placed them in shops and businesses throughout the Broch.

The team then assembled on Saturday to further highlight the issue and gather signatures which will be handed to the directors of Young’s.

Councillor Topping said: “Charles and I want to thank everyone that helped.

“We appreciate that two workers at the factory came down and a thank you to the members of the Fraserburgh and District SNP branch.”

He added: “And a big big thank you to everyone that is taking the time to sign it.

“This effects every shop and business all around the town.”

Letters are available to be signed in the majority of shops or people can join the online petition at www.change.org.
