Fraserburgh and District Councillors have spoken of their delight at getting over £60,000 worth of road works agreed for Invercairn.

Councillors Charles Buchan and Brian Topping made the announcement to the Invercairn Community Council on Monday that a large sum of money will e spent in the twin villages of Inverallochy and Cairnbulg.

Money has also been allocated for the road to St Combs.

Cllr Buchan said: “Over the last year many complaints have been received from residents, and it is good, that even in these times of financial stringency, the work is to go ahead.”

He added: “Brian and I, as the only Fraserburgh and District members present, spoke up for the much needed repair and maintenance work at the Banff and Buchan Area Committee meeting.

“This committee decides which work is allocated funding.”

Work is to be carried out on Shore Street, Mid Street, Frederick Street and Charles Street while a cul-de-sac on Allochy Road is also set to be repaired.

Also included in the budget is dealing with the flooding problem on the B90333.
