Two men who started their multi-million brewing business in Fraserburgh have received MBE’s in the Queen’s birthday honours.

James Watt and Martin Dickie, who run and own international beer company BrewDog, received the honours for services to the brewing industry.

Mr Watt said: “It’s amazing to have been awarded something so prestigious; it’s incredible to have the craft beer industry recognised at this level.

“It shows just how far we have come in our 9 short years.”

Now based in Ellon, BrewDog began in Fraserburgh in 2007 and has grown to become a global company in less than ten years employing hundreds of staff.

Mr Watt said: “We have a huge amount of exciting projects on the horizon at BrewDog, with our USA brewery coming online later this year, and loads of super cool beer launches in the pipeline too.

“We’re building an incredible team of passionate, beer-loving people both at home and internationally, with all of us on a mission to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as we are.”
