On Sunday, November 30, a good show of more than 40 ploughs was out in force to compete at Crimond’s annual ploughing match held at Spreaderhill Farm by kind permission of the Cowie family.
The match was presented with tremendous weather and ground conditions considering the rather bleak weather of late.
There was an excellent show of ploughing throughout all six classes with some very impressive ploughing from the prizewinners.
Results were as follows:
Class 1 champions - 1 I. Williams, 2 J. Walker, 3 B. Milne; Class 2 vintage lift - 1 H. Sutherland, 2 D. Gibb, 3 C. McDonald.
Class 3 vintage trailed - 1 J. McPherson, 2 N. Cruickshank, 3 G. Hepburn.
Class 4 multi-furrow - 1 P. Farquhar, 2 A. Hepburn; Class 5 single furrow - 1 A. Chetham, 2 A. Davidson, 3 D. Duguid.
Class 6 demonstrators prize for best ploughed plot - Am Philip.
