Busy B’s Nursery is buzzing with excitement following a £1,000 donation from Shell.
Speaking to the Herald, nursery manager Wilma Winton explained how a family connection to the nursery resulted in the funding boost which will be invested in IT resources.
She said: “Lyn Morrice, a lunchtime auxiliary/relief nursery assistant at Link Up for Busy B’s and a playworker at Link Up Ideal Kidz Klub was asked by her brother, William, if she knew of any groups that would be interested in applying for funding from his employer Shell.
“I wrote a letter on behalf of Busy B’s nursery asking if we could be considered for funding so that we could buy new IT equipment and technology resources, as technology is one of the eight curricular areas of the 3 - 18 Curriculum for Excellence which we follow.
“We were delighted when William informed us that we had been awarded £1000 and would like to thank him and his employers, Shell for their very kind donation.”
Link Up for Busy B’s was registered in June 2004 to provide care to a maximum of 28 children aged between six months and five years.
The service is provided for students of Banff and Buchan College and is situated in purpose built accommodation in the grounds of the college.
Wilma added: “The nursery aims to create a stimulating and challenging environment providing appropriate opportunities for learning through play in each of the key aspects in children’s development and learning.
