It was ‘Champions Night’ on Thursday January 20, with president Andrew West had to provide an alternative to his first choice due to a computer glitch.
As usual he came up trumps with an excellent presentation of Fraserburgh past and present.
Opening with an 1874 map showing Broadsea and Fraserburgh as separate entities a progression through the years showed the changes that took place.
Broad Street as a major thoroughfare was a good example and older members had lived through a lot of the changes.
The harbour was also shown as a rapidly developing project as the town spread westwards.
Amusing shots of “worthies” of the times raised a chuckle during this historical tour. Altogether a most enjoyable evening.
On Thursday February 3, we have to judge the fourth monthly competition which as usual will be in “open” format.
