A cancer charity are appealing for volunteers in Fraserburgh to establish a local fundraising group or committee.
Macmillan Cancer Support needs ten Fraserburgh locals who are willing to help the charity raise awareness of the support they provide.
They are looking for people in the area to be the main point of contact for the local community to make donations and to organise local fundraising events.
Jennifer Mitchell, Senior Fundraising manager for Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire, said: “We urgently are seeking members of the Fraserburgh community to come forward and help establish a new local group.
“Sadly everyday 19 people in the North of Scotland hear the devastating news ‘You have cancer’.”
She added: “For most of our roles volunteers don’t need to have special skills or experience. They just need to be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
“We provide training if it’s needed and offer on-going support to ensure all our volunteers get the best possible experience while helping us be there for people affected by cancer.”
Macmillan is almost entirely funded by public donations and the charity says the support of volunteers is essential to helping it raise all the money it needs to fund its cancer services.
