CELEBRATIONS will get underway on Friday, August 26, at a special after party to mark the success of this year’s Relay for Life in Peterhead.

The after party is being held at Buchanhaven Hearts club from 8pm onwards for all team members, survivors, volunteers, sponsors and anyone who is interested in supporting Relay For Life next year.

On July 9 and 10 this year, Peterhead’s sixth Relay For Life took place at Lord Catto Park and an astonishing £142,600 was raised by the end of the weekend for Cancer Research UK!

At the special after party, the final total for 2011 will be announced and during the evening there will be a disco courtesy of Waves Radio, games, entertainment, and a fun social evening for family and friends.

Relay For Life Peterhead is the only Relay in the UK to have raised over £100,000 in not only two consecutive years but now three.

In the last six years, the Peterhead community can be proud to say that it has raised over half a million for Cancer Research UK’s life saving work through Relay For Life and the money raised really does make a difference.

Louise Robertson from Cancer Research UK announced at the closing ceremony that half a million could fun 25 years of research into children’s cancer. So it really is worth celebrating and the committee would like to invite everyone involved with this year’s Relay For Life to attend and be a part of the celebrations, as it has been a true team effort by everyone involved.
