Fraserburgh establishment Cheers Cafe Bar and Tavern has added to their already impressive award collection by receiving two Innserve Best Cellars Awards.

Innserve Ltd install beer dispensers and cellar equipment throughout the UK to over 70,000 businesses.

Explaining how important the award was to the bar, owner Dennis Forsyth explained: “ We were presented with two awards on the night.

“The first was a ‘Best Cellar’ area award which was for being the top premises in Scotland and North-east England.

“The second was the more prestigious UK North Region award which covers everywhere from Manchester upwards, which is approximately 20,000 business.”

Cheers was described by the head of operations of Innserve, Steve Lakin, as the “clear winner” of the award, a tremendous achievement for the local bar.

Cheers had last year won the SLTN Tennents Beer Quality Award for being the best in Scotland, and were, this year, crowned the ‘Ultimate Venue’ by Sky Sports for Scotland and North England.

Today (September 12) the Cheers team are scheduled to head to the Hilton, Park lane, for the BT Sports Awards, representing Scotland, North-east England and Yorkshire in two category awards: best cellar and best smoking area.

They are also in the mix for a third award on the night, with the best licensed premises in Great Britain being decided.

Later in the year, they will then head to the SLTN finals in Glasgow to see if they will be named the best independent pub or bar in Scotland, an award sponsored by Kopparberg.

“It truly has been an enormously successful year for the business, having reached 20 national finals in the past 10 months and winning 11. It’s something we’re very proud about.

“Our next step is to work closely with VisitScotland to promote the business throughout the country, show it’s a very good asset to the community, and hopefully bring a lot of positive attention to Fraserburgh,” Mr Forsyth said.
