Fraserburgh and district councillor Charles Buchan has this month commented on his delight that, for the previous two months, little crime had been reported at Rathen.

Covered by Fraserburgh’s councillors as part of their ward, Rathen Community Council was visited by PC Mike Taylor during their February meeting to give a police report on the area.

Commenting afterwards, SNP councillor Charles Buchan said: “I welcome very much PC Mike Taylor’s statement stated that there had been almost no crime reported in the last two months in the Rathen area.

“Six calls in total were received, but only one concerned a crime, involving a fence!”

The councillor continued, saying that he was also pleased to have received the support of the community councillors in his efforts: “I was also pleased to receive support about the request from Cortes parents to do something about the dangers to their children when they cross the A90 near to the Cortes bend to catch the School Bus to Fraserburgh Academy in the morning.

“It is proposed to change the pickup point to Spillarsford Cottages, and divert the route onto the minor road leading to Rathen School, but rejoining the A90 at Lakeview. I hope this can be implemented shortly.”
