A group of students at the Fraserburgh campus of North East Scotland College has presented a cheque to a leading cancer support charity.

The hairdressing students raised the money by selling raffles at the Bridal Bash event held last September.

The group made up gifts as raffle prizes, with a dinner for two at the Wallace Restaurant at the college on offer as the star prize.

In total, £122 was raised for the charity.

The fund-raisers, along with hairdressing lecturer Gail Woods, presented a cheque to Moira Gordon of Macmillan at the college recently.

Commenting, Gail Woods said: “The class took a vote and it was a unanimous decision to go with Macmillan.

“I think we’ve all been affected by cancer and it’s a very worthy cause.”

Moira Gordon, who is a clinical nurse specialist with Macmillan, commented: “It’s a marvellous donation to go back into the local community.

“All of the money is spent locally in the form of patient grants.”
