Fraserburgh and district councillor Ian Tait has highlighted the availability of free home fire safety inspections to his constituents.
Councillor Tait spoke to us after meeting with officers from the fire and rescue service who briefed him on the prevention of accidental fires in the home.
“They playe tremendous importance on the prevention of fires,” Councillor Tait said.
“The service offers free home fire safety visits to look at safety in the home, they will also fit free of charge smoke alarms if they are needed.
“If families are worried about their elderly or vulnerable relatives, or neighbours are worried about vulnerable neighbours, then all they need to do to get this free service is phone 0800 0731 999 or go on to firescotland.gov.uk and book online.
“The free service is open to all.
“I would encourage my constituents to look carefully at this offer and accept it - preventing a fire is better than having casualties or fatalities just for the sake of a phone call,” he added.
