A 52-year-old man has appeared in court accused of murdering a man at an Indian takeaway in Mintlaw on Monday.

Hidayet Ozden from Falkirk was charged with murdering 56 year-old Shahzad Shah at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday.

Ozden made no plea or declaration at the private court hearing and was committed for further examination.

The Crown Office said he was remanded in custody and is expected to appear at a further hearing on April 21.

Police Officers and an ambulance attended the scene outside Mirchi Indian Cuisine in Mintlaw at around 5.35pm on Monday following reports of a man having collapsed following a disturbance.

Sadly the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
