A BUCHAN man has been fined after trying to stop police from arresting a man.
Sigitas Bulatovas (24) admitted deliberately preventing officers from carrying out their duties in Fraserburgh on May 8.
Police received a call from ambulance crews telling them that a man was unconscious at the town’s Shore Street at around 1am.
They found a “large group trying to fight each other”, including Bulatovas, who “struggled violently” with police.
Bulatovas, who did not seek the services of a defence agent, said through a translator that he “was drunk” and could only remember a “little bit” about what happened.
Fining him £200, Sheriff Philip Mann said: “Obstructing the police is taken very seriously. You stupidly tried to stop them from arresting other people. You must not stop them from carrying out their duties.”
