Searches will continue today (Thursday, November 6) for missing person Shaun Ritchie.
The 20-year-old was last seen in an open area of land between Strichen and the A98 Fraserburgh to Banff road after he had been out on Friday, October 31.
Specialist resources including the Police Scotland helicopter, the Dive and Marine Unit, the Police Scotland Mountain Rescue Team, the Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Team and specialist dog handlers have carried out extensive searches in this area but unfortunately Shaun has still not been found.
Commenting on Wednesday, Inspector George Cordiner said: “Enquiries are continuing to establish Shaun’s movements in the lead up to him being reported missing and at this stage there is nothing to suggest this is anything other than a missing person enquiry.
“Searches will resume again tomorrow [Thursday] but we are growing increasingly concerned for Shaun’s wellbeing as time goes by.
“Specialist resources have been utilised to assist with the search including search and rescue dogs and this will continue tomorrow. It is an extensive open area that we are searching and it does take time to cover this.
“We would ask that anyone who has any piece of information in relation to Shaun’s whereabouts to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
Shaun is described as being 5ft 9ins in height. When he was last seen Shaun was wearing dark grey skinny jeans, a white T-shirt, a grey hoodie and brown trainers.
