A callous thief has stolen numerous memorial ornaments from a graveside in a cemetery near Fraserburgh.

Numerous ornaments, including a heart-shaped trinket and a vase, were discovered missing by family of the deceased over a four month period at Cairnbulg Cemetery.

Police Scotland are now appealing for information regarding the incidents which occurred between December 10 2015 and April 4 2016.

Sergeant Scott Massie said: “To steal from a graveside is beyond despicable, and I don’t think I need to stress the immense upset the theft and damage of these sentimental items have caused.

“We are following a positive line of enquiry in relation this case, however I would urge anyone who has any information about these thefts, or anyone who has noticed any suspicious activity in the cemetery during this period, to please come forward. Any information at all could help.”

A grave marker and a remembrance pot have also been damaged.

Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 to remain anonymous.
