A 53-year-old woman has been charged after an incident of sheep worrying in Fraserburgh in which a lamb was killed.

The animal was killed during the alleged attack involving a dog in the Wood side of Cairness area around 2pm yesterday.

Sergeant Colin Houston said: “I would like to take this opportunity to remind dog owners that it is their duty to keep their pets under control and on a lead around livestock at all times.

“Please take responsibility for your dogs, and please know where they are. We may not think our family pets are capable of causing injury, but it is a dog’s natural instinct to chase.”

The Sergeant advised that people walking and exercising their dogs in the countryside keep them under control at all times and avoid going into fields where livestock is grazing.
